REVIEWS

“There is something of the jazz approach at the core of the sound of Will Lawton and the Alchemists - interesting timings and intricate riffs hung on fluid, free-flowing musical structures - but there richly textured and layer music contains much more besides. Indie melodics, rock weight and progressive meanderings all add poise and power. They could be your best new find of the year” Swindon Shuffle

“Get your ears around some wonderful Americana” BBC Introducing

“Will's piano-based songs and Weasel's superb drumming on a stripped-down kit make a heady and hypnotic sound that's both highly original and hugely accessible” Grapevine for Music

"Will Lawton and the Alchemists produce a performance of invention, atmosphere, power and considerable beauty" Geoffrey Head

“Refreshing, fascinating and exciting. Perhaps this is what Tom O’Dell fronting Wilco would sound like if produced by Roni Size? Regardless of how chaotic this sounds, it works. I mean it really works.” The Ocelot Magazine

ABOUT

Will Lawton and the Alchemists were formed in 2015 when singer-songwriter and pianist, Will Lawton started collaborating with drummer, Weasel Howlett. After three years of jamming, performing and recording, the duo released their well-received, debut album 'Fossils of the Mind' in January 2018. The debut album was self funded through live performances and a successful crowd funding campaign and was recorded at Real World Studios in Wiltshire, England. The album was released through the Wiltshire based, independent record label, Supermarine Music.

The band recruited upright bass player, Buddy Fonzarelli in 2018 to help with live performances as they toured their debut album. Buddy has become part of the core band and now contributes towards the writing of new material. Special live performances often see the appearance of guitarist and singer, Ami Kaelyn and tabla player, Harki Popli.

The presence of these additional musicians will be felt and heard on the forthcoming 2020 release 'Abbey House Sessions'. This will be a six track release with a mixture of live and studio music all recorded in the library room at the ancient Abbey House in Malmesbury, Wiltshire.

The band are growing, the following is growing and the music is growing. Will Lawton and the Alchemists are committed to playing live so check out the live dates on this website.
